First Day of Work

Get ready for your first day at work

It’s your first day, how do you prepare? Make sure that you know what time you’re supposed to arrive at the community. It is very important for you to not only be on time but maybe a few minutes early just in case there’s traffic that builds along your route. You also want to ask your HR personnel what you should be wearing for the first day. Some communities require you to already be in uniform, and other organizations allow you to dress business casual. It’s important to find this out so that you’re comfortable on your first day as well. When you arrive, you will be given a lot of information. At our company, we do videos for the first day so about four hours of it is video information that will help you understand the roles and responsibilities here and how we care for our residents, and what’s our passion for the industry.  So taking notes is a great thing. Please ask your HR person if they are going to have a notebook ready for you or if you should bring your own so that you can take notes. After completing the video training, you will go through computer modules and this is typically completed on an iPad. If that is provided to you by the company you don’t have to worry about bringing anything. Again, taking notes is really great for you to refer back to when you’re in the role.
