Childcare workers are often “in charge” of their daycares, and with that come the responsibilities of leadership. Leadership includes assertiveness, confidence, ability to delegate, and more, and the same important traits shared by CEOs is true of daycare workers. But, there’s an added layer: parenting styles.

Unlike CEOs, daycare leaders have to also lead with empathy and patience. They are role modeling and scaffolding for children. We will cover a brief overview of Baumrind’s parenting styles, an adapted theory based on Ainsworth from the 1970s. Parenting styles make the difference between an obedient, thoughtless child and a critically thinking, determined child.

  1. Childcare workers must lead children
  2. Leadership is a valuable trait in childcare work
  3. Parenting styles should be warm and enthusiastic towards the children
