Question: How would you tell a team member that he/she was underperforming?

Tips:

a. You should use examples in which you gave constructive feedback.

b. It’s good to be compassionate, but strict.

c. Show that you take initiative when dealing with teammates.

Example: There was an employee at my last position who was turning in sloppy reports– lots of spelling mistakes and bad formatting. I thought at first he was slacking off, but I found out he was hired without word processing experience. Since nobody else thought to train the kid, I took the time to show him the basics and everything worked out.
