Before you do any kind of public speaking the first step is to prepare. Preparation is the number one strength to deliver a strong message. To be prepared you must become very familiar with what you are talking about. Some people use notecards that have bullet points while others script it out or memorize. It is usually necessary to improvise quickly as you are speaking. As a result, many people do a hybrid of the two.

Preparedness is also about getting yourself mentally ready to go before an audience while analyzing your own strengths and weaknesses. Preparedness is the main reason some people succeed in public speaking while others fail. A failure to prepare is usually a failure to perform in front of an audience.
