Welcome to “Gmail for Beginners,” where you’ll learn how to send and receive emails using Gmail, a free application available with every Google account. Gmail can be accessed from any computer or device connected to the internet. For those who have completed the “Google Docs for Beginners” lesson, you’re already familiar with using Google Docs to plan a celebration. This lesson involves sending an email invitation for the celebration you’ve planned. If this is your first experience with Google Apps for Beginners, don’t worry. You can either create a fictional celebration, use a real-life event, or follow the example shown in the video. The main objective is not the celebration itself, but to practice the skills taught in these videos.

In this lesson, you will primarily use a web browser to access Gmail, though you can also use the Gmail app on your phone or tablet. First, we will guide you through the process of navigating to gmail.com and getting acquainted with your Gmail inbox. Then, you’ll learn how to compose and send an email, as well as how to reply to emails you receive. If you’re not already signed into your Google account, you should do so now. If you need assistance with signing into Google or creating a new account, please pause this video and watch the “Welcome to Google Apps for Beginners” video. Once you’re signed in, return to the tab with the Gmail lesson videos and click “Next” to proceed to the next video.
