Why Do You Work in Memory Care?
Question: Why do you work in memory care?
“I like to say that I grew up in the industry. I found myself knocking at the front door and saying, I want to do something more, something more exciting. Before I knew it I was having a conversation with an elderly couple right before they were gonna get ready to have a procedure.
I found myself really trying to understand and research what long term care was all about. Sometimes we have hard conversations with family members of those who have Alzheimer’s and or dementia. Personally, my grandmother’s had it. I always wanted them to meet someone like me during their journey. I strive to make sure our community is well respected in the community.”
- Memory care and long term care come hand in hand
- Sometimes caregivers have to have hard conversations with family
- Grandparents are often motivating factors for caregivers in memory care
