A majority of daycare is done out of the home and is a very affordable option for those looking to start a business and maybe make some side money while taking care of their own children. 

Startup costs can range from $10,000 to $50,000 depending on requirements and leasing costs. Either option generally requires licensing to avoid legal trouble, usually with 3 or more children under one’s supervision. 

Starting an afterschool program involves its own legal challenges and a partnership with your local school district to operate.
