Add Speaker Notes
Reading
In this extension of your project, you will enhance the slide deck you’ve created by adding speaker notes. Each slide in your presentation offers a designated space at the bottom for these notes, which serve as a crucial tool for delivering an engaging presentation. Rather than merely reading off the slides, use speaker notes to remind yourself of key points and additional information you wish to convey during your presentation. These notes are for your eyes only and will not be visible to your audience, allowing you to keep track of your thoughts and elaborate on the content of the slides. To start, sign into your Google account and return to your original project. Make a copy of this project and give it a new name. You’ll be working on this copy, enabling you to make changes and later compare it to the original version. Begin with the elevator pitch slide and think about any extra details you want to include in your talk. Type these into the speaker notes to ensure you cover all important aspects during your presentation.
Proceed to apply the same approach to the other slides in your deck. Reflect on additional points you wish to make about your education, experience, activities, and achievements, and jot these down in the speaker notes. It’s vital that each point you add complements the information already present on the slides. For instance, if a slide mentions your participation in a soccer team, the speaker notes could elaborate on the duration of your involvement and any future aspirations related to the sport. After you’ve finished writing your speaker notes, take some time to scroll through your presentation and practice how you intend to deliver it. The objective is to smoothly discuss the contents of each slide while integrating the extra details from your speaker notes. Now it’s your turn: begin by writing speaker notes for your first slide, focusing on expanding your elevator pitch, and then create speaker notes for the subsequent slides to enrich your presentation with additional insights.
