Activity: Finding Your Niche

Let’s start with your profile. Describe your online self in one to two paragraphs. Who are you, what do you stand for, what is your passion and what do you want people to know about you.

Now, let’s think about your audience. You can also consider your content first and audience later, but content without an audience will not get you far in our field.  So for the sake of this exercise, consider who you want to reach, what is their age group, demographics, what are their interests, and how involved you want them to be. Write this up in at least one paragraph.

Now that you can envision your audience, now we need to think about what they enjoy that you’re capable of providing. You can find inspiration from other influencers out there, or you can try to think of something personal that you do that you think others will appreciate. Either way, write down in one to two paragraphs what type of content you want to produce and why the audience will enjoy it.

Lastly, let’s think about the final parts: where and when is this content reaching your audience. Are you doing this through two or three videos per week? Are you hitting it across multiple channels or just one?  Do you plan on also taking donations or selling your own merchandise?  Write a paragraph on what you’ll do and how this best fits your niche.
