Reading

When you think about demonstrating your knowledge on a subject, you might imagine repeating facts from textbooks, tests, or research papers. However, a more creative and engaging way is through meme creation. A meme is an image, video, or file that becomes popular by being copied and spread rapidly online. These digital memes often combine an image or video with text that adds humor, commentary, or insight. The text can connect the image with current news or common life experiences, making memes a humorous and memorable method to convey a topic or statement.

For this lesson, you’ll create your own meme to express ideas about a subject you’ve learned. You’ll begin by selecting a topic, such as a historical event, scientific process, or a story’s plot. Using Google Drawings or any graphic design tool, you will create and resize a digital canvas for your meme, which is typically square in shape. After setting up your canvas and choosing your topic, you’ll find an appropriate image, create a border for your meme, write a caption using Word Art, and then share your creation online or in your classroom. To get started, sign into your Google account, navigate to Google Drive, create a new drawing, name it, and resize your canvas. Once you’ve completed these steps, you can proceed to the next phase of the project.
