Proper hand washing must always be practiced. Simple acts like nose picking or touching one’s hair can contaminate food. Hand washing is especially important at specific times.
You must wash your hands before starting work. Also wash your hands after using the restroom, sneezing, coughing, smoking, eating, drinking, handling raw food, or handling garbage.
Tips
- Use hot water – 100F minimum
- Apply soap
- Scrub hands & arms for 15 SECONDS
- Rinse
- Dry with a single-use towel
- If needed use an FDA food additive approved hand antiseptic
