Question: What specific details do many caregivers overlook?

Example

Tierra Thornton: “Remember that clients have lived long lives. They are former engineers, doctors, and homemakers. Reflect and pause a moment. This is a human being. They have feelings and want to be heard. “

Cheryl Thompson: “Information isn’t always considered important. Even when it should be. Imagine two caregivers working for the same client. One caregiver is on the night shift and you are there during the day. You come in for your day shift and the other caregiver says “Mr. Jones didn’t sleep well tonight” You need to ask questions. “What do you mean he didn’t sleep well last night”? Call the care manager and let them know what happened if something seems wrong. Never ignore information given to you about your client.”

Tips

  1. Remember that clients have had many experiences

  2. Don’t neglect reporting simple information

  3. Ask lots of questions about your client
